Earls Hall Baptist church has members who take an active interest in the work of the organisation 'Partners Relief & Development'. This organisation provides aid and hope to those suffering and displaced by the Burma army. There are over 1.5 million Internally Displaced Persons (IDP's) in Burma. As well as IDP's there are over one million refugees from Burma that have fled out of Burma to neighboring countries. 150,000 are in refugee camps in Thailand and Bangladesh, while the rest are scattered throughout the region. Partners works with these refugees, focusing on the needs of orphaned children and leadership training.
Partners supports approximately 1300 Karen children along the Thai-Burma border (as well as inside Thailand) through 21 children's programs, including orphanages, hostels, pre-schools, and schools, and thousands more who are still on the run inside Burma. They focus on the emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical health and development needs of the children.
