Children and Family

Children and families are warmly welcomed here at EHBC and we hope that, whatever your background, age or stage, you will feel at home. We aim to provide a safe, friendly and supportive place with opportunities for children and families to explore, and engage with, the Christian faith. Our church vision is ‘To love God, to love people and to follow Jesus’ something we hope is reflected in the way we are with children and families. Do read the information below to see how you could get involved.

Katie Stanton is our Children and Families Worker who oversees this area. Please feel free to get in touch at any time by emailing

You are very welcome to come and enjoy Bumble Bees Baby and Toddler Group. WE take children from ages 0-4. We aim to provide a friendly and supportive environment for you and your children to meet with friends, or make some new ones. We provide a varied selection of toys and play experiences suitable for babies up to pre-schoolers. Some of these will include things that might be more difficult to provide at home such as very messy play and larger play equipment. Refreshments are provided for adults and children during the session.

There are various events throughout the year that we all look forward to. Be it a visit from the photographer, a very messy play session or our Christmas party with bouncy castles, Father Christmas and lots of fun! We are always keen to hear any new ideas and occasionally have visitors from The Book Start Team, Baby Sign and Rhyme, Sure Start Centre and others.

There is a charge of £1.00 per family.

Buzz is our afterschool club for Reception – Year 2. At Buzz our aim is to introduce children to bible stories and the basics of the Christian faith through fun activities. As the children arrive we offer them a snack (the warm toast is very popular!) and a drink. We enjoy a time of free play as we wait for everyone to arrive before starting to explore our theme for the session using games, crafts, cooking, stories and music. Anyone can come to Buzz whether you’ve experienced church before or not, all are welcome to join in the fun.

There is a charge of £1.00 per child.

Swarm is for school years 3-6. At Swarm our aim is to provide a fun and safe club for children where they will experience Christian principles. The children enjoy choosing from a range of activities including football, crafts, wii, table tennis, lego, cooking and more! A tuck shop offers a range of goodies for a small charge and there is always free squash available throughout. The session comes to a close with a short talk to get everyone thinking about God.

There is a charge of £1.00 per child.

Our ever popular holiday club is for primary aged children who want to come and have fun (lots of it!) and learn about the Christian faith. The children all start the morning together singing songs with lots of actions to get them moving. They then split into three groups and take part in three activities in turn – games, teaching and craft. The morning closes with us all together again with an opportunity to think about what has been made, played and taught throughout the morning. Parents are welcome to join us for this last session. Allsorts is a great way for children to start the summer holidays. Children will love the high energy feel and parents will appreciate how well the children will sleep each night.
